Project Update · June 2026

Bringing squash back to the Mid North Coast

Where the project stands today — and how you can be part of it.

Port Macquarie is a city of 50,000+ with no dedicated squash court. We’ve had none since 2023, and we lost around 40% of our players when the venue went. The nearest courts are a 45-minute drive away in Kempsey. We’re fixing that — and Phase 1 is now active.

The four-phase plan

We’re building incrementally, across four phases — each one proves the demand, grows the membership, and funds the next step.

PhaseWhenWhat
Phase 1Proof of Concept2026One all-glass court in a 250m² leased venue (sized for two from day one)
Phase 2Growth2027Second court added in the same building — no relocation
Phase 3Permanent Home2028–20293–4 courts in a permanent, part multi-sport facility
Phase 4The Full Vision2030–20326–7 courts, full multi-sport precinct

Where things stand

We’re sourcing a professional, all-glass court from China and a 250m² venue in Port Macquarie — sized for two courts on a three-year lease (first court for Phase 1, second in 2027). Phase 1 runs $51K–$110K (target $72K), and we won’t order a court until 80% is secured. Meanwhile, competition continues weekly in Kempsey.

We’ve already raised $20,750 — a fantastic effort. Now we need your help to finish the job. Every donation through the Australian Sports Foundation is tax deductible and goes straight into the court.

Donations have started

That total already includes our first player donations — $140 through two gifts into our Australian Sports Foundation account, plus a $1,000 cash gift from one of our own players. Thank you so much to all of you.

Our playing community has set a goal of $10,000. You can give a one-off amount, or set up an automatic monthly donation — even $20 counts, and it all adds up. For those in a position to give more, now is the time.

More than anything, we want everyone to start to really believe this can — and will — happen. If we all get behind it, it will.

Donate now (tax deductible)

Thank you for being part of it. With the community behind it, the first court is within reach this year.
