History of Port Macquarie Squash

4th March 1975

Murray Street Squash Courts established

Owned and managed by Dorritt & Charlie Reynolds.

The Port Macquarie Squash Club was an enormously strong Club, conducting a number of various Competitions, both Mixed and Ladies whilst boasting well over 240 players participating each week.

4th March 1981

The Palm Court Men’s Squash Club established

Founded by Doug Yeff, who along with the Club’s No. 1 Player, Alan Lester and also Garry Hill, formulated the competition with 40 participants following an ad in the local Port Macquarie News on 11th February 1981

Mid 1985

Murray Street Courts Closed

The Murray Street site was unfortunately lost to one of the burgeoning new developments occurring throughout Port Macquarie, in this case the Port Central Complex

1986

Oxley Squash Complex added 2 more courts

As a result, the Oxley Squash Complex then added two more Courts to accommodate the Port Macquarie Squash Club, which now covered three nights of competition per week.

Oxley Squash already had a strong Ladies Club participating on Thursday nights and a very healthy Junior Club participating on Fridays nights. They then continued with the Port Macquarie Squash Clubs' existing format of a Mixed Competition.
